If

I were to follow my wants instead of my needs I very well could break the bank from the fliers, catalogs and magazines I receive each week in my mail. My SOG flier arrived yesterday and within five minutes of star gazing I'd spent a few thousand. In my dreams I purchased several cases of ammunition, two sniper rifles and a couple more Nagants, as if I need another.

A sample of this weekends mail.

Lehman's catalog arrives several times a year and gives me a vast void of a headache. I want almost everything listed. Midway, don't even get me started. Shotgun News, I'm like a child in a candy store. Then Cabela's messes with my head with all their great shirts and outdoors gear. I hate that I'm poor.

Christmas is just around the corner.

  1. It's a very shooty place in my head, too ... lots of new and shiny things to play with.

  2. Then whatever you do don't check out slickguns, your budget will weep with temptation.

  3. LOL... was going through a Cabela's too. My husband gave me quite the look when I wondered how many solar panels it would take to run one of those walk in refrigerators.. you know.. for when my dream greenhouse the size of our house gets built.. in fantasy land.. *sigh

  4. Likewise. I get a plethora of magazines and catalogs delivered but I like you, can only dream of the puchases that will never be. Being poor really does suck.

  5. Rev. Paul, it's enough to drive a sane man bonkers. Thanks.

Odysseus, See, I went and clicked. Spent about ten minutes dreaming. I had the sense to leave ahead of the game. Thanks for the link.

Anne, we seem to think alike. I keep the Cabelas hidden from the wife...she has zero discipline. Thank you.

mmasse, Brownell's gives me the fits too. I must budget. I cheat too. Thanks.

Dean Carder, nice to meet you. Hope you hang around. Yes, my friend, we working poor are members of a large clan. Thank you very much for the comment.

  7. That kind of porn has been banned from our house.

However, I gave my wife a list, prioritized, of preps we need. That way, we can discuss what is needed, wanted, and "Mudbug, you have lost your damn mind." Suprisingly, the latter is rarely used these days.

  8. Oh, yes. Every gunnie's problem. All of those poor firearms and accessories without a home! It just makes me want to cry. Can I keep it, honey?

  9. mmasse, it's great isn't it? My wife sees the signs, but has hope I'm wrong. But she also sees my prepping as getting close to completely self sufficiency, making living below our means a reality.

  10. Mudbug, I understand but I love my paper porn. Thanks.

45er, isn't it the truth. It's enough to make a grown man cry...those poor little guns.

    mmasse, and mudbug, carry on.

  11. I get so many catalogs from Cabela's that I sometimes wonder how they make any money after all the printing expenses. I mean really, it's practically a new catalog every week, sometimes two or three. And then since i'm such a valued customer I get the hard back master catalog every year, not to mention the winter, spring, summer and fall catalogs. I get em for men, women, work, the start of hunting season, fishing season which is not the same as the ones for fishing and shooting. I'm supprised the tree huggers don't mount an attack on them:)

  12. Anon, isn't that a fact. LL Bean too. I can fill a paper bag with all the catalogs I receive in a months time. Thanks...very much.
